Pakistanis doing well in the IPL?

Geoff Lawson today dismissed the rumours of a rift with the PCB selectors and said that he would be back in Pakistan soon.

All well and good that is but what was he thinking when he said this:

“Our players are doing well in IPL matches and I have been monitoring their form.”

Was he talking about the Australians? Because the Pakistanis bar Sohail Tanvir and Umar Gul haven't done well at all.

I wonder which IPL Lawson has been watching.

So Dear Mr. Coach of our favorite team in the world, please take a look at the following:

Shoaib Malik, Pakistan Captain. 52 runs in 5 innings at 13.00. He sat out half the Daredevils' games because he wasn't considered good enough.

Misbah Ul Haq, Pakistan Vice Captain. 117 runs in 8 innings at 16.71. He sat out 6 matches because RCB was delusional.

Mohammad Asif, Pakistan's premier strike bowler. 7 wickets in 7 matches at 37.71. He was dropped for a few games and then stayed out due to injury.

Shahid Afridi, Pakistan's star allrounder. 81 uns in 9 innings at 10.12. 9 wickets in 10 matches at 25.00. He too was dropped for a few games.

Salman Butt, Pakistan's solution to opening problems, 193 runs in 7 innings at 27.57.

Alright so Salman Butt played a few good knocks and Afridi was good with the ball but at large the Pakistanis have probably been the least desirable foreign players in the IPL.

I agree with arguements such as they didn't get enough opporunities or that they weren't used properly, but to say what Lawson said is just plain wrong.

The players don't need to worry though as Cheif Selector, Mr. Sallu, has said that IPL performances will count for Zilch when selecting the squad for the upcoming tri-series.

amongst all i was most disappointed with asif not for anything but for he played in IPL...with half baked body...

look at him now he is neither here not there...money does strange things to mind...he better sort out his priorities...otherwise he will be another great loss to pak team...

It doesn't make anything better considering the likes of the highly nepotist Javed miandad making endless calls to sack malik and every single guy except his nephew faisal iqbal to be in the team.

A serious question to you q... just for my understanding... how seriously is javed miandad taken from the paki public.

coz i recently read an interview in the dawn and I see he is so self-consumed beyond any hope.

SP - I agree. He should have stayed at home and healed properly.

And he's playing in the semi now as well. Why?

DB I don't think he was used properly by RCB...he bats at 5-6 for Pakistan and Dravid used him at 3 in all games. the 1 game he came at 5, he got an unbeaten 47.

You're right Scorpi. Miandad is very self absorbed. I dont think anyone in Pakistan pays any attention to him. Not even the board or the cricketers do.

It happens with most former cricketers. They are legends and well appreciated by the public while they r playing.

When they go away they try and do silly things to stay in the limelight and thats when the public loses respect.
