Warne Wants Crack!

Not the drug, he wants a crack at England next summer.

While KP decided he doesn't want to talk about next year's Ashes yet, his "good friend", Shane Warne has come out and said that if Australia and Ricky Ponting need him, he will be there. Or at least think about it.

That'll be something.

The last time Warne went there, he looked like the only Aussie playing the Ashes taking some 40 wickets and scoring 290 odd runs.

Will Warne get another crack at the English?

He said that he would do it if there was no one else around to fill the spinner's role in the team and Ponting asked him to.

Well the news is that there isn't. Warne knows that, Ponting knows that, and I'm sure CA knows that.

Thats like filling in Wasim Akram's spot in the Pakistan line up. Its not possible.

Mcgill, Casson, Hauritz, Bailey, and even Cricket with Balls' very own Bryce McGain don't have it. Or atleast don't have it yet.

McGill and Casson are in the Windies currently and McGill's taken some wickets in the side game and he may even take heaps of wickets in the tests but who knows if he'll be fit enough come next English Summer.

There is another Australian state season to be played before the next Ashes and the above names would be out there knocking on the doors. But I hear that Hauritz and Bailey don't get state games anymore, and McGain isn't getting any younger.

Warne's chances don't look that bad then.

I say if Warne is willing, you don't need to look elsewhere.

What say Punter? Willing to punt on the master?

And whats next? McGrath and Gilchrist offering their services as well for the next Ashes?

Make your pitch on this post...

I am not to sure if that will happen but if it does one thing I can say for sure he still can do a lot of damage, looking at him and McGrath bowl in IPL you can easily see what Australia was missing in the last series against India.

I am not too sure if Ponting/CA would let that happen, but England for sure wouldn't want it.

Q, a comeback may underline Warne's greatness but it would be a poor advertisement for the Australian cricket set-up, which, we were told till the other day, is a conveyor belt throwing up loads of new talents every now and then. Well, I don't expect a rookie to come and straightaway match Warne but it's sad to see that the country, which has maintained its hegemony in world cricket, doesn't have a single spinner of substance who is good enough to bowl at the Poms.

    Q,
Read this. http://cricket.timesofindia.indiatimes.com//Cricket_Australia_play_down_Warne_return_/articleshow/3055426.cms? . CA has played down Warne's statement.

also consider the possibility of warne getting kicked by the Englishmen... the Australians will the the laughing stock for generations! rare possibility though.

Well there is no doubt that he is still good enough but its doubtful that anythign like this will happen.

As pointed out by you guys, CA wouldn't want it..turning back to the past will only hioghlight weaknesses for the present and the future.

Plus Ponting has come out today saying that McGill looks good for the Ashes.

Funny though how the English are shying away from all Ashes talk.

IF he wanted crack he ask for a transfer to KKR.

When are trades going to be allowed, i love trades.

Trades will be allowed during a 2 month window around Feb next year before the next season begins.

They should be fun.. imagine Vijay Mallya trying to sell of Kallis and no one is interested. How fun!
