Gilchrist Ignored...

"There used to be a bloke who gave himself out by walking when he'd hit the ball. The popularity of that within his team-mates may be shown by the fact that since his retirement, they no longer reply to any emails, phone calls or text messages."

Poor Adam Gilchrist feels left out.

But maybe the Aussies are just too buy trying to plot the Indians' downfall to reply to you Adam. What makes you think it has anything to do with your walking?

Make your pitch on this post...

    Q

It was a superb match yesterday and it will go down as one of Malik's finest knocks.

Fawad won the match with his 3 sixes in 5 balls or so.

As for why he is not in the team, I blame these reasons:

    1) There is no space for him in the line up. Unless Afridi is used as opener Fawad will struggle to find a place ahead of Misbah, Malik, Yousuf and Younis. Where do you place him?

    2) Afridi's bowling has been so good that he cannot be kicked out of the team so Fawad can't replace Afridi. That only leaves Malik because Malik's batting has been inconsistent and unreliable ever since he was made captain.

    3) I don't want to discuss politics on your blog because I respect Wellpitched and want it to be politics-free. But there is a saying that "Karachi key players key saath naa insaafi hoti hai".

    4) Malik sees him as a threat because he knows Afridi can't be removed. So Fawad is competing the most with Malik. This is despite Malik being the captain of the team.

If we have to look ahead we need to revamp the team and get more young and fit guys playing. Yousuf is an incredible batsman but
    1) Despite being a great player he does not have Inzamam's class and he has not been the match winner Inzamam was
    2) He can't run properly and he is very unfit
    3) He is a liability when it comes to fielding

For these reasons is it best to remove him and make way for guys like Fawad?
India removed Dravid and Ganguly from the ODI team and that actually WORKED IN THEIR FAVOUR.

I used to have a problem with Younis Khan because of his occasional careless batting. But I am no fan of Misbah now because he is not a match winner. All Pakistanis bat well against India and Sri Lanka and apart from those teams Misbah has only batted against South Africa (except minnows). Against South Africa he failed miserably.

So I would get rid of Yousuf and Misbah and get Fawad and another batsman. This another batsman must be young, athletic, and must be like Fawad in that he should be able to hit sixes when required but must also bat with maturity and sense when required.

At least he hasn't lost his sense of humour. Tho I didn't know he had one.

guys like gilchrist, symo just don't fit into punter's team. had gilchrist been any less than the player he was, wonder how long he would've survived?

You're either a pup or an invisible batting machine like hussey or a cook like hayden to stick it out in that group.

Conform, reform or get outta the team, that's their mantra.

    Who is this Adam bloke?

Misbah is not a match winner and Afridi Is. lol

Malik's 42 off 33 were not important infact he should be condemned and lets keep a hush about Afridi's batting performance so that it goes completely unnoticed and also keep a complete hush about Malik's bowling which has been at par with Afridi lately and also lets not talk about why Afridi lost the final of RBS.

We should also keep a hush why Khalid Latif is in the team despite several failures, why Shoaib khan is in the team, why Najmuddin khan included shoaib khan in the team and excluded Saeed Ajmal, but lets keep on blaming every Punjabi in the PCB heirarchy for every misfortune, hopefully we will get a karachi 11 one day.lol
