International Premier League

When it began last year, it was surely the Indian Premier League.

The "domestic competition", as the ICC likes to call it, was held in India.

There were 8 Indian regional teams.

7 of them were captained by Indians, with 5 of them with the status of Icon players.

Shane Warne was the only international captain last year.

This year however, it has all changed.

Its still the 8 Indian regional teams, but it is no longer being held in India.

Its taking place in South Africa.

While 3 of the captains - VVS Laxman, Rahul Dravid, and Saurav Ganguly - have been replaced by Adam Gilchrist, Kevin Pietersen, and Brendon McCullum.

Did you ever think that you would see KP captain a team from Bangalore?

We all saw Gilchrist captain Hyderabad last season, but this year he's going to do it in all the matches.

Can you imagine McCullum captaining a Kolkata side with Ganguly in it as a player?

I'd love to see that at the Eden Gardens!

Or even KP or Kallis leading Dravid on the the field in Bangalore.

4 Indian "domestic teams" are now captained by foreigners.

How long before all of them are?
