Can Deccan Do It?

Deccan Chargers have never beaten the Delhi Daredevils in 4 matches between the two teams.

Will it be any different today in the 1st IPL Semi Final?

Delhi have finally understood what I have been talking about all along - open with Gambhir and Warner, Sehwag come one down.

They tried it last match and it worked and they're doing the same today.

Deccan's fielding first, which is a bit surprising in a pressure game.

Gilchrist did say that it was their strategy, and it might as well be, but I think it has someting to do with the Daredevils being very good at chasing.

With the 2 batting line ups of Deccan and Delhi, it promises to be a high scoring match.

Stranger things have happened though in the IPL.

Can Deccan do it?

Can they beat Delhi?

Can they get a crack at the title after finishing at the bottom last season?

Here's hoping they can.

Gambhir GONE and Game ON!

Thats the thing abt both these teams.. they can recover from bad starts cos of their strong batting line ups.

Ofcourse, Q, they can. They will. Sehwag is too casual to win important knockout games.

Raj: u think sehwag's casual attitude is detrimental?

LIB: Gilly is a huge big match player... 100s and 50s in WC finals.. fastest 50 in IPL semi.. what brutal attacking!

As for the song.. it goes something like "Go chargers, Go chargers, Go go go.. "

Raj: u think sehwag's casual attitude is detrimental?

    "
Well, not so much detrimental as instrumental in him failing to bag big prizes. Look at Gilly - he wanted it badly - he doesnt care how he does it - he wanted to win and every stroke was a means to that. With Viru, the means are more important than ends. If it is there to be hit, try hitting it, even if you know percentages are small.

  19. Q said...

Raj: makes sense. But maybe Viru is that determined, just doesnt show it. He is quite expressionless.

Q, maybe. But to keep out McG, and then say cooly that McG wouldnt have made a difference, that shows he is quite indifferent and inflexible. Its almost as if winning a game isnt his priority. Just his theories are more important - seems like he decided taht McG wasnt fit, and that's it. If you can give McDonald a chance i na meaningless league game, why couldnt he have given a game to mcG in the league stage. I think he just decided and didnt care that McG could have made a difference in the semis.

I see what ur saying Raj.. I guess no Indian captaincy for Viru.. not for Yuvi either.. good thing Dhoni has a long way to go.

  22. raj said...

Q, true. Thank God for Dhoni! I was one of the few among my circle to argue for Viru to be made captain after Kumble. I was seduced by his general street smartness on the field, and that decisivness with which he got Ishant Sharma to bowl that extra over in Perth. I realise my mistake now. I am, like, a big fan of Viru but got to face reality - Dhoni's the better captain.

Raj: initially I had also thought that Viru would make a good captain.. but Dhoni, as you say, Thank heavens for that..

Only problem is.. who after Dhoni?

Dhoni may have 10 years of a career left but surely he cant captain that long. or can he?
