Manish Pandey!

He's from Karnataka.

He's played a handful first class games and dozen Twenty20 matches.

He played for the Mumbai Indians last year.

He turned out for the Royal Challengers Bangalore this year.

It was only his 3rd match in the IPL this year.

It was only his 2nd innings in the IPL.

He smashed only the 2nd century in the IPL this season.

His 114* is the highest score in IPL 2009.

He was up against 2 of the the leading wicket takers.

He is Manish Pandey.

And he is only 19!

And above all, after McCullum, Hussey, Gilchrist, Symonds, Jayasuriya, Marsh, and AB; Manish Pandey becomes the FIRST EVER INDIAN to score a century in the IPL! (Thanks Adverbin).

Some Achievement that.

Damn, I missed the innings. But seriously - 114 not out - thats awesome. Also glad an Indian finally scored a century in IPL.

Also can you believe Bangalore finishing 3rd in the table???

He was a bit of a let down in the Ranji Trophy, especially since Karnataka are not good enough to give bright prospects a long run. (Vijay Bharadwaj, then calling himself R.Vijay, played for two full seasons in Karnataka's heydays, before scoring a fifty. But once the dam broke....!).
I hope this knock signals his coming of age. Karnataka might just have a serious batting contender for National Colours, several years after Dravid... oops, Bharadwaj.... double oops, Uthappa.
