Pakistan is a bit Important after all

Cricket Australia have come out with their schedule for this summer.

Pakistan have been allotted the 2 most important test matches that Australia hosts during their cricket summer.

The Boxing Day Test in Melbourne and the New Year's Test in Sydney.

What's more, Pakistan will also play a 3rd test.

So its not just a 2-test series. Thank heavens for that!

There are 5 ODIs and a Twenty20 in the itinerary as well.

And here we thought we were being isolated.

Is this Australia paying us back for all the cancelled tours?

    What a nice treat.

Any idea who'll be broadcasting it Q?

Still think we should push for 5 tests with the bigger nations.

They were given the same tests in 04/05 as well.

I don't think anyone is suggesting Pakistan is not important. It's just that touring Pakistan is highly undesirable, and I don't disagree with them.

Grounds in England would benefit big time if they were to host Pakistan over the summer. Especially against a team like SA or Australia. Pakistan is a crowd-puller, and an unpredictable team that can give the best a run for their money.

I would say that by the actions and words of some, they are suggesting Pakistan is not important e.g. Modi.

Obviously you don't think this Sledgehammer. I agree with all your other points.

Who do you support by the way?

Stani: Don't know yet, but Ten Sports does have the rights for all of Pakistan's matches.

Can u believe we have not played a 5 test series since the 1992 one against England?

Atleast, against India, we deserve to have one.

Sledge: My point regarding isolation was not targeted at teams not touring Pak, but rather how we were unceremoniously dumped from the Champions League.

Agree on England hosting our tests against Australia next summer.

Stani: Sledge is a staunch Pakistan supporter, but doesn't have a lot of respect for the authorities - PCB nor the ICC.

He is also an ICL fan like you.

It's like only aus, eng, s.a and india deserve 5 match test series. Bit of a pattern there if you know what I mean.

    ICC are pathetic

Not all of them Stani.. The Aus-SA series have all been 3 test series..

Even Ind-Aus have not played a 5 test series. They have all been 3 or 4 test series.

It is only the Ashes that is 5 test series these days..

Eng though have tended to play 4 test series and to be fair they have Pak a 4 test series as well in 2006.

And the last time India played a 5 test series was in 2000.

So they really seem to be a thing of the past, aside from the Ashes..

Stani.....when was the last time India played a 5 test series? I have been trying to think about it but have come up with nothing. In fact India never ever plays 5 match series. If Modi had his way - we would be playing 2 test match series all the time. The maximum we play are 4 that too only with Australia and maybe England.

Modi does not consider Pakistan insignificant. He simply considers anything where he cannot make a quick buck insignificant. Thats the reason India hardly plays any tests anymore. He does not care about Indian cricket. He just realized he can make a lot of money via T20 and hence is ready to screw all of us in India or Pak or anywhere else with that.

Also he took the IPL away from India because he did not want to wait 3 weeks longer for everything to be settled. He considered India and Indian public insignificant enough as compared to his grand plans of the IPL.

So in short - to reply to your modi comment on him considering Pak insignificant - he just considers everything including his own country just that and has nothing to do with Pak as such.

Rayden: in my previous comment I pointed out that India played a 5 test series way back in 2000-01 against WI.

I agree with wat u say abt that evil leech of a Modi. He has now started to lie as well - everything he said abt the Champions League was a lie.

@stani: Like Q said, huge Pak supporter. But not a fan of PCB (who is?) or ICC (though on rare occasions they may come up with a sensible thing or two).

You are correct about the Champions League dumping. I think Modi was looking for the easy way out. He knows that having a Pakistani team can only be good for the tournament. But he would have to deal with PCB/Pak govt/etc. It was easier to just dump them.

Now, I would like to see other countries and the ICC support Pakistan here. Modi made a huge assumption, and he assumed wrong.

But with PCB currently getting on the wrong side of other countries (not entirely their fault though - they have justified reasons for the hosting fiasco), I doubt you'll see much support.
