    Classic!

Imran Khan was perhaps the last Pakistani captain who was able to really get the team to work together.

    Haha, good one Q

    Hahaha. Very good Q!

I think Ponting was a bit embarrassed at going out so early though.

Not sure if you picked this up; his dismissal to Mendis, he just closed his eyes and swung the bat. It was almost as if he'd given up trying to pick him. It was funny.

    Haha.. thanks guys.

Krishna, Imran Khan and to a certain extent Wasim Akram and Inzamam. Wasim in his letter years.. his first stint resulted in a mutiny.

Inzi was very authoritarian(sp?) - he was the senior most member and had at large a young team at his disposal so he was looked up to.

    Stani,

I did pick that.. Ponting was clueless against Mendis as were the other Aussies besides Johnson.. and then Ponting just decided that he would attack.. he might have fared better had he played him out..

Q some changes in yunis statement.. "in subcontinent players do just opposite what their captain says.so tell players just opposite "

    Brilliant!

Aussies have been clueless against spin in general for a little while, so no wonder they were completely baffled by Mendis. Will be very interested *rubs hands gleefully* to see the impact of Swann (and maybe MontyP as well) in the Ashes. The Australian squad of old would have dismissed a bowler like Paul Harris to all parts in years gone by, but times have changed :D

so are you guys saying pakistan is in the super-eights because of younis or inspite of him? :)

    Chullanz,

I wouldn't apply it to the subcontinent cos the Indians and Sri Lankans seem to be solidly behind 1 man.

    MeikoElectra,

    Welcome to Well Pitched.

England should definitely be planning a spin trap. And besides Swann and Monty, I feel Rashid can be a real threat to them in test matches.. they should look to play him.. maybe over Monty..

If Flintoff is fit, then they can afford to bat him at 6 and bring in 2 spinners.

    donthaveaclue,

The way the Pakistanis turned out against Holland it definitely did not look like "non-serious" or "just for fun" :-)

Top stuff Q - and at least Younis didn't get fined for a slow over rate for interminable discussions over the field setting for every ball!

    Thanks Anonymous!

Thats true.. poor Punter.. less money to punt away now..

Get kicked out of the cup and lose cash as well.. not the best of times to be in the Aussie camp.
