The best of Pakistani sledging

I was reading a pretty funny post by one of regular visitors, Ottayan on Simon Taufel's recent comments on sledging. Apparently Taufel has said that sledging is ok, but originality is very important.

So as a tribute to great Pakistani sledgers, and those that had great sledges targetted at Pakistanis, here are some good ones:

"Pakistan is the sort of place every man should send his mother-in-law to, for a month, all expenses payed" - Ian Botham, after England's 1984 tour to Pakistan

"Why don't you send in your mother-in-law now? She couldn't do any worse" - Aamir Sohail's belated, but effective response after Botham's duck in the 1992 World Cup Final

"I knew God was on our side" - Imran Khan after the 1992 WC final

"I have never upset anyone in my life" - Miandad before the 1992 Pakistani tour to England

"Ive waited 6 years for your autograph, Mr Wog."
"Well, another 10 minutes wont hurt you mate." - conversation between a Pakistani fan and Steve Waugh as the latter left the field during Aus tour of Pak in 1994

"They've always had a lot of talent, a lot of good players, but they're like eleven women. You know, they're all scratching each other's eyes out" - hauntingly accurate words from Ian Bothan on Pakistani sides he's known

"Atleast when a side like Australia tries to rattle you, they do so in a language you can understand" - Billy Alley overestimating the English skills of the Pakistani players in 1992.

I remember another classic from our best, Javed Miandad. Manindar Singh was bowling to him and after every ball Miandad would ask him his room number at the hotel. Manindar kept ignoring him and also lost his cool and apparently complained to Gavaskar as to why Miandad kept asking him that.

Finally, after getting fed up, he asked Miandad as to why he wanted to know his room number?

Miandad replied: "cause i want to hit you for a 6 there"...

I read this in Miandad's autobiography "A Cutting Edge".

    Some more Classics:

    1. Moin Khan behind the stumps against India or Sri Lanka in Sharjah. Pak are winning the game and only the last wicket is left. The 10th wicket is putting on a 20 run or so partnership and suddenly you here Moin Khan say "Jaldi karo boys, 1 more wicket, Malls band ho jayengay"...Translated - quickly, the malls will close :-)

    2. Ganguly captaining India and placing the field for Harbajhan. Dravid is keeping (dont remember against who it was). Ganguly sends the mid off back and Dravid walks up to him and says "usse kyun peeche bheja, wahan thori marega. Aise field set karta hai jaise khud batting kar raha ho"...translated - why did u send the man back, he wont hit there. U set the field as if u r batting yourself.

I heard these personally on LIVE TV. Sounded hilarious!

haha, thats funny. I read the same autobiography. Manindar was bowling really well and wasnt giving up too many runs. After Miandad said, "... i want to hit you for a 6 there"... Manindar Singh bowled a short one thinking Miandad was going to charge for a 6... Miandad eneded up putting the long hop for 4 :)
