Random Pakistan Cricket Fact #1

Inzamam Ul Haq took a wicket off his first delivery in One-Day Internationals.

True story.

It was Inzamam's 2nd ODI, it was against the West Indies, and the batsman he dismissed was none other than Brian Charles Lara!

Here's the scorecard of the mentioned match.

The huge man had a pretty amazing bowling action :)

@Sam: he was no-balled for chucking in Singapore against Sri Lanka I think.

Aamir Sohail brought him on to bowl very early in the innings. One of the most hilarious moments in Inzi's career (and there have been many, including attacking a supporter with a bat! :).

Oh Inzi, the bayzzz miss you!!!

The best moment in my opinion was in 1992 WC Semi final and then in 2003 with the match winning 138 against BD in his home town which saw him appointed as skipper.

Sam, those 2 incidents were probably the most memorable in not only Inzi's career but all of Pakistan cricket's history.

    Sledge,

I remember that over. In fact I have the VHS recording of that match lieing in my shelf.. that was such a funny over.. he kept bowling no balls.. it looked he was chucking too.. and the umpire called over after only 4 legal deliveries.. in all he bowled around 10 i think cos of the wides and no balls.

We do miss him. Wat a man.

Darron Reekers almost reminded me of him.

@Q: I have so many cricket VHS tapes lying in storage in Pakistan. Mostly stuff from 86-93/94. Some classic games. The one that my bros and I watched most was the Asif Mujtaba classic in Perth in 1987. I've memorized the commentary.

Also have the video for the match in Zimbabwe that involved Nawaz Sharif, Bob Hawke, and John Major (click here for a description of that event).

Need to extract them out of Pak at some point. Probably will never find them though. We'll see.

I remember that story abt the match u watched with all those politicians and almost no security!

U need to get that video and convert it into CD/DVD version...

I have a whole lot of VHS videos lying around as well, but all here with me .. will never part with them. All the classics from Sharjah, WC 92.. all my stuff is from the 90s.. till the 99 WC.. nothing after that.

I even have the full innings of Afridi's fastest 100.. that match was not telecast LIVE.. i remember it was a nightmare trying to get hold of that innings..

My favorite, the one I used to watch over and over was the Sharjah match in which WI needed 2 to win of the final ball and Waqar bowled Ian Bishop!

The sight of those 2 ladies and the dua's is etched in memory... as is the Waqar yorker!

@Q: That Waqar yorker to Bishop! Classic stuff!!! I was watching that on a trip to Pakistan a few years back. Some random channel was showing it.

It's amazing how involved I got in it, despite knowing what was going to happen.

I linked to that cricket leaders match in the comment above. If I ever find that video, it will on WP!
