Mendis Mendis Mendis !!!

Remember when I said this?

And when AP Webster said this?

Remember when I raved about him here?

He just played in the T20 Quadrangular in Canada and in his first three T20 Internationals he picked up figures of:

4-0-15-4
4-1-17-4
4-0-23-3

Thats 11 wickets in 3 T20 matches at an average of 5.00 and a strike rate of 6.5!

In 13 ODIs he has 33 wickets at an average of 10.81 and a strike rate of 18.0!

In 3 Tests he has 26 wickets at an average of 18.38 and a strike rate of 37.6.

All those 26 test wickets are of the best players of spin in the world.

Where have you seen better?

When has anyone excited you more?

Make your pitch on this post...

Q - even if we didn't remember, you're not gonna let anyone forget in a hurry, are you?

    For the record, I remember.

Cricket needs heroes. Esp on the playing field. Bring on The Mendis.

    Q

We need to talk about why Yasir Arafat is not included in T20 and ODI cricket. Sohail Tanvir's performance has declined- shouldn't Arafat be used to keep Tanvir on his feet?

We also need to discuss what Aamir Sohail and Majid Khan can do for PCB. Both of them are temperamental characters who only want to see things their way. They have both been part of PCB before without any success. In my opinion Bari was a worse selector than Salahuddin. Under Salahuddin we saw Misbah, Tanvir, Fawad, Sohail Khan etc. I don't remember seeing any brilliant cricketer emerging under Bari.

I love Mendis too. He is a gem. The game needs originals.

Sorry for blowing my own trumpet again! but I wrote about him around six weeks ago and there are many fine comments under the line.

If interested you can find it at the link below.

Sorry again but I am terribly lazy and it is easier to post a link than summarise here. Hope that's OK.
