Pakistan, India, Bhai-Bhai*

Rayden, a regular reader of Well Pitched, left the following comment in a previous post; It was too good to leave it buried in the comments section, hence I'm reproducing it here.

"India-Pak: Bhai - Bhai. Either we lose to minnows in the first round together, or we go to the finals together, or we lose in the Super 8s together"

One doesn't want to leave the other behind it seems.

*Bhai = Brother

Hey Q - thanks for putting up the comment as a proper post. Its funny how for two countries that have been political enemies for so long, everything else always happens together off politics. Also I have never witnessed a India or Pak citizen fight face to face when they meet. Its all friendly stuff all the time - but then again, I have never been to a India v Pak cricket match so dont know the atmosphere there on the ground.

    Rayden,

I've lived all my life in the UAE so I've literally grown up with Pakistanis and Indians together.. went to school together, worked together, etc.. There has never been any animosity between the citizens.. I've got tons of Indian friends and at the end of the day I don't see much difference between the two...

I've been to loads of Ind-Pak matches in Sharjah and the crowds co-exist.. yes theres a lot of bantering and hooting, but once the game is all over, the fans are one again.

The animosity has always stayed in the politics, governments, and armies.

The citizens have always gotten along and continue to do so.
