What a DUTCH!

No, neither I, nor many others will stop talking about them for some time now.

The British media is not even out with their takes on the defeat to the Dutch, so who are we to stop.

The blogs have been buzzing with their 2-bits on last night's awesome Netherlands win over England.

Here are my 2-bit take aways from the game:
  1. The boundaries seemed bigger in England's innings.

  2. Why doesn't Dirk Nannes take wickets?

  3. Luke Wright is just a slogger. Bopara is the real deal.

  4. Why didn't Peter Borren make it to the New Zealand team?

  5. Tom De Grooth and Darron Reekers will have their agents on the phone with the IPL mob soon.

  6. Speaking of Reekers, he can give the ball some pounding!

  7. Bas Zuiderent looks like Dirk Nannes' long lost mountain brother.

  8. Stuart Broad needs target practice - maybe darts with his own face on the dartboard will help!

  9. The Dutch have made a statement and the other minnows are now sounding warnings - beware New Zealand, India, and Pakistan.

  10. If South Africa were batting, instead of the Dutch, there would have been 4 run outs in the last over.

I can't wait for today's matches - I don't see Scotland upsetting the Kiwis, but I do see the West Indies and Bangladesh doing a Dutch today.

Now that would be something!

The Dutch Have the World Jittering!

I wasn't the only one who had talked about the minnows' ability to spring surprises at the ICC World Twenty20.

But I don't think anyone thought that it would happen as soon as the opening match of the world cup!

Besides AP Webster, who warned everyone about the Dutch before the opening game.

This victory by Netherlands may just be the start.

Ireland, Scotland, and Bangladesh are still to come.

Reekers, De Grooth, Zuiderent, Borren, Schiferli, Borren, Seelaar are not household names by any standards, but after today, the English will remember them forever.

England now face the prospect of getting dumped from a home world cup within the first 3 days of the competition.

But they are not the only ones who will be having a couple of sleepless nights.

Their next opponents, Pakistan, will be sh*tting bricks!

England will no doubt come hard on Pakistan, and if they manage to topple them, then the Pakistanis face the prospect of catching an early flight home.

In the case that England beat Pakistan, then not only do Pakistan have to beat the Dutch, but will have to keep an eye on the net run rate as well.

Boy is this some start to the 20-20 world cup!

Only a day into the tournament and the Dutch have given the cricketing world jittery legs.

Krishna mentioned that the minnows should look to target the weaker teams in their groups to go ahead; the Dutch have done just that.

What a start!
